Integrity has been defined as, “Doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.” What is the hardest thing you had to do because it was right?! It is when we are under pressure that the “real you” comes out!
I. Man of Integrity
• Name means “God is my Judge” Babylonian name means “Bel protects him”
• Deported to Babylon when he was 16
• Special service training (MBA) 3 years
• 9-12 chapters are about dreams
• One of a few who have no negative written about him
• Daniel defined integrity: faith, prayer, courage, consistency, no compromise
• “Speaker of the House” in Babylonian empire
• The book is “The Apocalypse of the Old Testament”
• The book is written in 2 languages: Hebrew (chap 1) Aramaic (Chap 2-7)
• Daniel was 82 when thrown in the lion’s den
II. Challenge for Integrity
• Choices in Chaos (chap 1)
• Nebuchadnezzar (the world) chooses the best
• Daniel (believers) choose the best
• God blesses good choices!
• Interpret the Impossible Dream (Chap 2)
• So bad, he forgot it – (Job 4:13-16)
• So mad, he wanted to kill because of it (Prov. 14:17)
• So good, miracles happened (1 Jn. 5:14-15)
• So thankful praise was automatic (Ps. 118:21)
• Stand when it isn’t popular (Chap 3-6)
• Against false gods (Josh. 24:15)
• Against arrogant rulers ((Ps. 2:10-12)
• Against impending disaster (Ps. 56:3)
• Against false accusations (1 Pet. 3:16)
III. Applications of Integrity
• 1 Chron. 29:17 – God, tests the heart and is pleased with integrity
• Neh. 7:2 – put in charge… because of integrity and he feared God
• Job 2:3 – maintains integrity, though tested to ruin without any reason
• Job 27:5 – till I die, I will not deny my integrity
• Ps. 7:8 – Vindicate me, Lord, according to my integrity
• Ps. 25:21 – May integrity and uprightness protect me
• Prov. 11:3 – The integrity of the upright guides them
• Isa. 59:4 – no one pleads a case with integrity
• 2 Cor. 1:12 – we have conducted ourselves with integrity and godly sincerity
• Titus 2:7 – set an example by doing good…show integrity, seriousness
