God’s Great Expectations…!
Have you ever expected more out of someone than they delivered?! You probably had unrealistic expectations… So, when it comes to God, what does He expect out of you?! Is His expectations even achievable?! Let’s see…

God (not other people) has:

Apply – people more concerned about what God expects have less time to speculate what others may expect!

Apply – “has” implies an action already completed (something we should already know!

Apply – God has already made the info available (Eccl. 1:9 Heb. 12:1)

Man adam human beings (vs. the rest of His Creation)

Apply – God shows humans what He doesn’t show angels (1 Pet. 1:12)

Apply – angels are not gods…they don’t know everything…(Matt. 24:36)

Good towb pleasant; prosperous; better

Apply – God desires His interaction be pleasant; better (Jer. 29:11)

Apply – Obeying God makes one prosperous (Josh. 1:8)

Requires darash demanded; petitioned; sought

Apply – God can demand from us because He owns us! (1 Cor. 6:20)

Apply – God answers all who petition and diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6)

1st Expectation (Act Justly)

Act asah work; produce; offer

Justly mishpat fitting; judgments;

Apply – Work and produce fitting to God (Col. 1:10)

Apply – Offer judgments that God approves (Matt. 7:1-5)

2nd Expectation (Love Mercy)

Love ahabah as God loves (God loving through you)

Mercy checed goodness; kindness; faithfulness

Apply – Love goodness regardless of the quantity (Rom. 15:14)

Apply – Love kindness wherever seen (saved or unsaved)(Col. 3:12)

Apply – Love faithfulness even when it isn’t consistent (3 Jn. 1:3)

Walk yalak proceed; live; lead

Humbly tsana modestly; submissively

Apply – live modestly (don’t flaunt God’s provision)(Phil. 4:11-12)

Apply – live submissively (not my will but Your will be done)(Matt. 26:39)

Apply – lead modestly (don’t revel in being the leader)(Phil. 2:3)

Apply – lead submissively (leaders are the example to follow)(1 Cor. 11:1)
